The Vice Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Ivannia Quesada Villalobos, and the Ambassador of Cuba in Costa Rica, Danilo Sánchez Vásquez, signed a cooperation agreement aiming at having both countries advance in the issue of sustainable livestock.
This agreement implies the participation of the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock of both nations and will facilitate the training, exchange of experts and technical information, on topics such as fruit trees, seeds, diseases, new technologies of management, reproduction, feeding and forages, genetics of major and minor species, value chain for milk and meat production, among others.
The Vice Minister highlighted the work done by the agricultural sector for several years, in coordination with the private sector, institutions and organizations, in order to join efforts in the promotion of a sustainable livestock, adapted to climate change and low carbon emissions.
The meeting took place in the framework of the celebration of the 2018 Third Forage National Congress and Research Day, which was held at the National Technical University (UTN), based in Atenas. This is the first time that the Congress is held in the field.
