Costa Rica to import bovine semen and embryos from Brazil

Costa Rica imported semen and embryos from Brazilian cattle to increase competitiveness.


Costa Rica struck a deal with Brazilian authorities to import bovine semen and embryos, with the goal of improving the quality of local cattle. Brazil has the largest cattle herd in the world, and has a large market share in the export of meat and milk. The deal was brokered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and National Animal Health Service (SENASA).
