The organizers of FESPO International Fair, the most important tourist fair in Switzerland, chose Costa Rica as guest country.
This was the first time that Costa Rica participated in this international event, which took place from January 26th to January 29th in Zurich, Switzerland.
Participating in this fair allows us to position our country in the European market, which is a necessary and fundamental action to attract potential tourists,
declared Tourism Minister Mauricio Ventura.
The Costa Rican stand was located in the center of the fairground, in a visually-privileged place that is only granted to the guest country. In addition, as part of these benefits, Costa Rica had a special section on the fair website.
The minister added that there are also specific efforts to develop a rapprochement with this market from the confirmation of the new direct flight with Switzerland.
From May 9th 2017, Switzerland and other European countries will directly fly to Costa Rica with Edelweiss Airline, which will operate two weekly flights, on Tuesdays and Fridays, between Zürich and San José.
FESPO annually brings together more than 63,000 participants. This year, they were able to visit the Costa Rican stand and be amazed by the majesty of this space, as well as seeing folk dances from the different regions, general information and tasting our gastronomy such as cajetas, Biscuits, dried fruits and chocolates.
