Costa Rican companies engaged in manufacturing fashion accessories, furniture and household items have a potential opportunity to export their products to the US cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco.
According to data from the study “Fashion Accessories and Household Items in Los Angeles and San Francisco”, made by the Costa Rican Trade Promotion Agency (PROCOMER), several factors influence this scenario.
These factors are:
-An improvement in employment and income rates per capita in the United States, allows non-essential goods to have increased participation in consumer spending.
-The United States is the largest importer of fashion accessories, housewares and furniture worldwide, and the consumers of the west coast of the United States like differentiated products.
-The period studied (2011-2015) show growth in the consumption of luxury accessories and those directed to the male niche.
According to the analysis, fashion accessories may be sold in specialty stores when it comes to goods produced on a small scale, since they value the differentiating factors.
In the case of massive products at a low price, manufactures can opt for department stores. Nevertheless, it is important to note that department stores have chosen to include handmade and unique products in their offer.
