Costa Rican Foreign Affairs Minister met with Qatar Emir

Foreign Affairs Minister Manuel González met with the Qatari emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Al Zani, as well as other officials from the royal family and the Qatari government.

At the meeting, the representatives of both countries discussed potential investments in Costa Rica, the damage caused by Hurricane Otto, alternatives for tourism and hospital investment and environmental issues.

The Qatari authorities showed special interest in knowing about the availability of investment in tourism, which is why they will send representatives to Costa Rica.

In this regard, the Foreign Minister of Qatar will coordinate a high-level visit to different investment entities, including the Qatari Investment Authority (Sovereign Fund), the Qatar Development Fund and the Tourism and Hotel Industry Fund (Katara Hospitality).

He also instructed the airline of his country to explore possibilities of air connectivity between both countries by various means.

In the framework of the meeting, González reiterated the convenience and importance of materializing foreign direct investment as part of the bilateral relationship and the agreements signed between both countries.

Due to the interest shown by the Government of Qatar in the situation of Costa Rica after Hurricane Otto, González listed the needs of the affected communities.
