September 27, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Once a year a congress of environmental awareness and sustainable business development is carried out by Myclimate Swiss foundation. It brings together students and young professionals from around the world.

One of the projects carried out after collecting waste in Talamanca was an artistic work under artist Mónica Ventura’s direction.

The group created a turtle sculpture. The work was done by 20 people in a week. 6 kilos of plastic bottles caps were used.

The international course, aimed at young people with an interest in sustainability, was called Youth Encounter on Sustainability YES. It took place from September 10th to September 22nd in San José and Talamanca. It was conducted by the State Distance-Learning University (UNED), the LEAD University and Avina Suiza Foundation.

Participants will focus on issues such as climate change, climate-smart cities, sustainable strategies in agriculture, land use and transformation of energy systems.
