From the 1,007 projects that participated, the Organization of American States recognized Emanuel Solano’s among the 45 most outstanding. The Costa Rican competed with students from 74 countries at the International Science and Engineering Fair Intel.
The “detection and control system of gas leaks for domestic-use cylinders (Progas)” caught the eye of the judges, who recognized his effort in presenting an innovative system.
The device detects a possible gas leak, controls it through a non-detonating electronic systems, and then sends an altet while disconnecting the electricity in order to avoid explosions. The system also integrates with a digital platform, which can text message or call the user, indicating that there was a gas leak in their home or business.
