The Costa Rican sustainable tourism model will be promoted by the government of Germany.
The Germans gathered the best sustainable tourism practices in Costa Rica to share them with the tourism sector of Tunisia through an international cooperation project that seeks to consolidate development models that are environmentally friendly.
There will be two weeks of exchange of experiences from already-completed projects, training, marketing and certifications.
Consolidation and promotion of sustainable tourism is the name of the project that is led by GIZ, a German institution in charge of technical cooperation.
In October, representatives of Tunisia’s tourism sector visited institutions and ecotourism developments in the country. Some of them were selected to go to Germany to present their experiences in detail.
One of them was Eduardo Villafranca, president of RBA and the Villafranca Zurcher Foundation, who will have to present the sustainable business model from the Punta Islita Hotel.
People from Tunisia and GIZ were at the Hotel and they liked the sustainability program we developed, they thought that all this learning could be used in their projects for the benefit of Tunisia,”
said Villafranca.
More than 20 years ago, he led a model of integral development in the community of Islita, which lacked infrastructure, public services and its inhabitants had no educational opportunities.
Through the training of the community, it was possible to transform the environment into one that favored eco-regeneration, the generation of economic opportunities and artistic and cultural development for the people.
