Costa Ricans believe the country is heading in the wrong direction

From July 26th to August 10th, 2016 a coordinated telephone survey was conducted by the Center for Research and Politics Studies, La Universidad weekly newspaper and the School of Political Sciences at the University Of Costa Rica (UCR). 798 people over 18 years old participated. The results are the following:

60.7% of people rated as poor or very poor the country’s course and 62.2% believe that the government work is negative.

The negative perception of the economy increased by 5% compared to April and the unemployment has become the main problem of the country (23.3%).

As the most pressing problem, people mentioned the cost of living and the economy (14.9%) followed by insecurity and crime (14.8%).

In addition, Government’s mismanagement (11.7%) and corruption (7.1%) was also mentioned.
