Hurricane Matthew brought death and disaster to Haiti. The most recent reports indicate there are at least 473 dead, 330 injured and more than 175,000 refugees in shelters, and more than 1.4 million people are now homeless.
For this reason, international aid has begun to arrive and if you want to help, you now have the possibility to do so through the Red Cross.
The National Emergency Commission (CNE) authorized the institution to receive economic donations.
We received this request from the Costa Rican Red Cross to receive donations for Haitians who are suffering the consequences of the hurricane, and following the humanitarian principle of solidarity, we want Costa Ricans to help and contribute to this cause,”
said Iván Brenes, president of the CNE.
The Red Cross enabled bank accounts in colones and dollars, so that people can collaborate with the humanitarian cause. The commitment and responsibility of this institution is to transfer the resources to support the Haitian people through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent.
