73% of Costa Ricans think Nicaragua’s acquisition of 50 military tanks is unfavorable, but only 37% of them believe the country should file a complaint on the matter.
This was revealed by a survey conducted by the company Cid Gallup in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras, where they asked citizens’ opinion on the purchase from the Russian government, valued at $ 80 million.
In Honduras 60% of the population disapprove of the purchase, and 53% of Nicaraguans also describe it as negative. In fact only 24% of Nicaraguans support Ortega’s decision.
Interestingly, 46% of Costa Ricans believe that if Nicaragua were to use the tanks, it would be against the Costa Rican government.
Similarly, in Nicaragua, the survey shows that 14% of Nicaraguans think that in a hypothetical case, the tanks would be used against Costa Ricans, while 74% preferred not to express their opinions.
However, in Honduras, 27% of the population believes that the tanks would be used against their country.
