It seems that ash from Turrialba volcano has not seriously affected Costa Ricans’ health.
Emergency services from several hospitals declared that cases related to respiratory problems or allergies have not greatly increased.
However, there is not reason to be careless. If you are allergic, asthmatic or have other respiratory or cardiovascular problems, strengthen security measures:
-Protect the airway and mouth with masks or wet handkerchief.
-Protect your eyes with goggles.
-Protect your skin and head with long-sleeved shirts and hats.
-If exposed to ash, wash with water.
Experts’ main recommendation is not to be exposed.
