The Board of Port Administration and Economic Development of the Atlantic Coast (Japdeva) confirmed that the last cruise of the 2018-2019 season was served this Holy Thursday. It was the Zuiderdam vessel, owned by the American company American Holland Line.
The boat arrived in Limón from Colón, Panama, and was scheduled to sail to Fort Lauderdale in Florida, United States.
Japdeva estimated that with the season that began on August 23rd some 224 thousand passengers would arrive in the country in a total of 110 vessels, all served at the specialized dock located in the terminal Hernán Garrón Salazar.
As of March 21st, Costa Rican ports had received 203 vessels during the 2018-2019 cruise season that began on August 23rd with the arrival of the Sea Princess and its 1,870 passengers at the Japdeva terminal in Limón, from Key West, United States.
In the coming months, 46 other vessels were expected to arrive at the five main ports of the country: Limón, Caldera, Quepos, Golfito and Puntarenas, which will be the berthing site for the last ship of the season, Queen Elizabeth, on July 13th.
With this, a total of 250 cruises will have arrived in this period, 153 to the Pacific ports and 96 to the Caribbean ports, which represents 9.2% more than in the previous season.
Once on land, passengers have the option to choose between the different routes offered by local tour operators, transporters and guides who promote the history, the exuberant nature, the cuisine and the diverse culture of the Pacific and Caribbean of Costa Rica.
