Curridabat and SENASA unite for the welfare of animals

For the first time, the National Animal Health Service (SENASA) and a municipality join forces to strengthen and support animal welfare programs.

On March 11th, the Municipality of Curridabat and SENASA will sign an agreement with the objective of preventing and mitigating situations of abuse. This is why the projects are generating awareness of responsible pet ownership in the canton. The mayor of this canton, Edgar Mora, indicated that

a city that takes care of its animals is a city that is made up of more empathetic citizens.”

There will also be neutering campaigns at low cost, control of the population of animals without owner, and eight parks enabled for dogs.

It is also intended to give a more expeditious response to the attention of animal incidents. There will be two inspectors trained in the subject, and training will also be provided to the residents of the canton on responsible ownership of pets and first aid.

The signing will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the First Festival of Animal Welfare, in the Biarquira Park, in Freses de Curridabat.

Via a press release, SENASA informed that they expect other cantons to join this initiative that strengthens the new Animal Welfare Law, approved in June 2017.
