December was the most violent month the last six years
Of 305 critical cases this month, a total of 105 suffered a violent death in Costa Rica. According to figures from the Cruz Roja, the figure is the highest for a month of December in six years. Gunshot wounds or stabbings claimed the lives of 24 people and sent 69 people to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Traffic accidents resulted in 37 deaths and 155 hospitalizations. A total of 10 people killed in water accidents on beaches, rivers, ponds or lakes, and three were minors.
