Dengue fever vaccine in Costa Rica

One or two months from now, the dengue fever vaccine will be available in Costa Rica, following the approval of the Ministry of Health.

Roberto Arroba, national coordinator of immunization, confirmed the product met the necessary requirements to be sold in the country. Arroba is in charge of the operation and the remaining laboratory tests will be made at the University of Costa Rica.

These are microbiological tests. Once we have the results, the vaccine will be sold,”

confirmed Arroba.

It will depend on pharmaceutical companies how much of it will be available for sale and how much it will last, but two months are estimated.

On the other hand, they haven’t stablished a price yet. It will be known once the vaccine is on the market.

Dengue fever cases have increased in recent months, reaching the alarming number of 6,000 reported cases.
