Costa Rica adds $2 more into its departure tax . The contribution will go to the Animal Health National Service (SENASA).
The new fee was approved on May, 25th and will come into effect within two months.
The departure tax from Costa Rica already includes a $27 exit fee and a $2 contribution for plants sanitary protection (SFE). Now, the new fee for leaving the country will cost $31.
This new fee would collect $4,5 million per year, which SENASA said are needed to fund its operating costs and investments.
In 2015, 2,66 million tourists entered the country and 918.647 Costa Ricans traveled abroad, according to official data.
