Different chambers at the National Agricultural Alliance (ANA) rejected the new text of the Water Act

Different chambers at the National Agricultural Alliance (ANA) rejected the new text of the draft Law on Water Resource Management, known as the Water Act, because it did not incorporate 16 amendments they proposed.

Legislator Juan Marín announced that the new text was generated from decisions made among different sectors and it had the support of 41 lawmakers from different parliamentary factions.

However. legislators explained that they have not met Marin or any other congressman to agree on the new record.

The Water Law, which entered the Congress through popular initiative and with the support of 160,000 signatures, is been under discussion since May 25th, 2010.

It was voted in first reading in 2014 with the support of seven parliamentary groups, but it was later declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court.
