This is the message of a campaign for prostate cancer awareness that joins many other activities with the same purpose to be held in November.
Do not be surprised if you see road ads like the one in the picture. The idea is to make men understand the importance of prostate examination to prevent this type of cancer.
“Don’t be afraid. It’s just a finger” is the slogan of the initiative that can be seen in different areas of the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM).
There are important risk factors among the male population, such as being descendant of Afro-Caribbean or African Americans and having first-degree relatives with the disease (father, brother or grandfather).
Prostate cancer has no symptoms in early stages, therefore doctors insist on the need to be attentive for poor prostate function. This can be identified with some symptoms such as:
– Frequent need to urinate
– Pain or burning sensation when urinating
– Poor or interrupted flow of urine
– Difficulty when starting or stopping urinating
– Erectile dysfunction
– Discomfort when sitting
Directly and symbolically, the campaign shows various a male hand making several gestures, such as peace and love, good luck or victory signs to anticipate that everything will be fine.
