Ecuador will announce its maritime boundary with Costa Rica

On September 9th, Ecuador will ratify the maritime boundary agreement with Colombia and Costa Rica. It will take place in a trilateral meeting on the Galapagos Islands. It was announced by Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa. Presidents Juan Manuel Santos and Luis Guillermo Solís will be part of this meeting.

Correa declared that this is a historic event because for the first time Ecuador will absolutely establish all its land and maritime boundaries.

Costa Rican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship Manuel González Sanz reiterated that the government is willing to participate in this significant step that strengthens political, commercial and diplomatic relations as well as cooperation and mutual assistance.

The Convention on Maritime Delimitation between Costa Rica and Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean was signed on April 21st, 2014 in Quito, Ecuador.
