Elected PUSC legislator investigated for illicit enrichment

The legislator elected by Heredia from the Social Christian Unity party, Aracelly Salas, who is also the mayor of the Municipality of San Pablo, faces an investigation as a suspect in the crime of illicit enrichment.

This was confirmed by the Public Ministry. Salas is being investigated as well as three other men named Alfaro Arias, Baizan Hidalgo, and Corrales Barrantes.

Apparently, the Deputy Prosecutor of Heredia investigated the legislator on February 14th; however, no further details of the case were provided due to being in a preparatory stage.

In October last year, the then candidate for the presidency of the PUSC, Rodolfo Piza, asked the aspiring legislators to sign a commitment of ethics and against corruption that would force them to renounce their candidacy or their position in case of not fulfilling it.

The document points out two essential points. The first speaks of demonstrating illegal behavior about acts of corruption that imply a criminal complaint. The second is committing serious ethical offenses that are condemned by the Ethics Tribunal of the party.

All the candidates, including Salas, signed the document, according to the information provided by the party.

However, now Piza assured, through his communication manager, Betsy Rojas, that he does not know anything about the case.
