Endangered species were planted in La Sabana

Friday marked the first sowing day of the project Rearborización del Parque Metropolitano La Sabana 2018, during which about 80 new trees of more than six different species will be planted. To achieve this, more than 90 volunteers offered their time and effort.

On this first date, the volunteers planted endangered species such as Guayacán real and Cedro bateo. The exploitation of these species in Costa Rica is governed by an executive decree, as it is a heavy, precious, and slow-growing wood.

The Minister of Sports, Hernán Solano Venegas, joined the first planting day of 2018 as a volunteer.

This project is an example of the success of a public-private partnership, which benefits all the living beings in the area. The success of the project is more than evident and from the government we celebrate that our emblematic park has more native trees and that new species of birds make La Sabana their home,”

said Minister Solano.
