The Chamber of Fuel Entrepreneurs reported on the scope of the application of Value Added Tax (VAT), after the Ministry of Finance notified about the obligation to tax the products distributed in the tax the 315 service stations in the national territory.
Despite this, the business sector questioned that even the Public Services Regulatory Authority (Aresep) does not incorporate the tax in the tariff modification.
After repeated requests for clarification before Aresep and the Ministry of Finance, this Wednesday the Chamber of Fuel Entrepreneurs received confirmation that the margin for transporting and selling hydrocarbons must be taxed at 13% VAT. According to camera estimates, the increase will be approximately ₡7 to ₡8 per liter sold,”
said the camera, in an official statement released on Monday.
For entrepreneurs it is clear that fuel transportation rates to service stations and other customers, as well as the amount corresponding to the fuel distribution margin must be paid by the final consumer.
Of course, the entry into force of said tax requires the pronouncement of Aresep because a tariff change is necessary in order to incorporate the tax in the price.
