Epsy Campbell’s goddaughter resigned from the Chancellery

Catherine Rivera McKinley, goddaughter of the Vice President and Chancellor Epsy Campbell, resigned from her position on Monday. The information was confirmed at 4:10 p.m. by the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Since last Thursday, Rivera and her godmother Epsy Campbell were in the public eye because the opposition criticized relatives’ appointments, which in other years were repudiated by Campbell, during her two terms in the Legislative Assembly.

Campbell defended the appointment of her goddaughter that day, arguing that there is no degree of consanguinity between them and that, in her opinion, she fits the position.

For this and other appointments the vice president has a criminal complaint opened by the Public Prosecutor Office, in addition to two consultations before the Attorney General and the Office of the Public Ethics.

Rivera, in addition to being an advisor in Campbell’s office, was a member of the Foreign Service Qualification Commission, an advisory body to the minister.
