Every three days, a child is diagnosed with cancer

Preventing cancer can save lives! This is the message of the Association Fight Against Childhood Cancer (ALCCI), within the framework of the Golden Month, whose objective is to detect the disease in minors as soon as possible.

It is estimated that every year, 170 minors are diagnosed with some type of cancer, the most frequent being leukemia.

The symptoms are varied but persistent. Gabriela Soto, Head of Hemato-Oncology at the National Children’s Hospital (HNN), explained that they range from headaches and fever to hemorrhages.

Adara Flores, is a nine-year-old cancer survivor who will return to school tomorrow. Her parents detected the symptoms and took her to a health center on time, where she was diagnosed with LCL.

In addition to an information campaign, the ALCCI carries out a fundraiser to finance the care and support for these children and their families.

You can donate by means of a text message: 9001 for 1000 colones, 9002 for 2000 colones and 9005 for 5000 colones.
