On April 17th, at 10:55 am, the exchange rate was ¢596.50 in the Foreign Currency Market (MONEX), one of the lowest levels this year.
The price of the currency has remained low since April 3rd, when it was at ¢ 607 per dollar.
This week also saw the highest traded amount of the year: $ 42.6 million during the session on Monday, April 15th.
At the banks, the exchange rate is quoted between ¢602 and ¢603.
Economist Daniel Suchar says the recent behavior of the dollar is due to the low participation of large foreign currency buyers in the wholesale market, which causes an excess supply and a fall in the price.
