Facial biometrics in financial transactions

The automated facial recognition, a biometric method that recognizes a person from a previously created image, is the new tool that can be used to access virtual platforms and apps to make transactions.

Coopeservidores is the first financial institution that implements this tool in Costa Rica. International airports and even by big companies such as Facebook and Google also implement it in their services.

The biometric system can record various facial features to validate whenever the user enters the CS Wallet application. This makes the process of accessing the platform quick and easy, in order to use the Mobile SINPE. Biometrics also prevent impersonation and computer fraud,”

said Eric Loria, Business Director of the entity.

Since 2015, Coopeservidores also offers this system on its website and electronic kiosks.

Oscar Hidalgo, manager of the cooperative, said that the service is 100% safe, reliable, and free. Those who prefer it can use it along with other security systems such as password and key numeric coordinates.

The institution also revamped its website and launched its inclusive version, suitable for visually impaired people. It also launched its new service called CS appointments to book appointments with a home consultant online.
