Fernando Castillo was reelected as a magistrate of the IV Court

Fernando Castillo Víquez was re-elected as magistrate of the Constitutional Chamber for a period of eight years.

This was confirmed by the president in office of the Congress, Natalia Díaz, who explained that the deadline to ratify Castillo expired on Thursday.

But as the session could not be held, due to the funeral honors of legislator Juan Marín, from the National Liberation Party (PLN), the magistrate was automatically re-elected.

Díaz said that Castillo will be sworn in by the Legislative Plenary next Tuesday. The re-election of the magistrate was recommended by the Nominating Committee of the Legislative Assembly.

Castillo Víquez holds a degree in law and a public notary degree from the University of Costa Rica (UCR). He was advisor to the Legislative Directory and coordinator of the legal area of the First Vice Presidency and the Ministry of the Presidency, as well as constitutional attorney.
