According to legislator from the party Liberación Nacional (PLN) , Karla Prendas, Puntarenas’ new hospital will have fewer beds.
According to the legislator, in 2015, it was said that the medical center would have 459 beds, but now that number was reduced to 283.
Prendas presented the case after a hearing among the Special Commission of Puntarenas, Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (CCSS) medical manager, Maria Eugenia Villalta, institution’s infrastructure manager, Gabriela Murillo, and Jorge Granados, director of Monseñor Sanabria Hospital.
Now they present a new document that follows incorrect parameters and they didn’t even take into account population’s growth,
stated Prendas.
The executive board approved two motions so that CCSS’ board members can appear.
The new hospital will have a cost of 120 million dollars and it will benefit 316,624 people in 2030. However, the project has been delayed. It was necessary for legislators to take part.
