José María Figueres’ defeat speech and Antonio Álvarez Desanti’s victory speech made the Internal Electoral Court (TEI) of Partido de Liberación Nacional suspend the collection of data from the polling places to start a manual counting of votes.
The last report provided by the party informed that 774 polling places had been scrutinized, which represents about 35%. Until that moment, Álvarez had 45% and Figueres had 38%.
If they are satisfied with 35% of the results, we stop collecting the information and tomorrow, at 9 am, we start the manual counting,
