The proposals of pre-candidate José María Figueres revolve around the generation of jobs and sustainable economic growth.
The governmental project by Figueres has considered five axes of work: prosperity, eco-efficiency, solidarity, modern and efficient infrastructure and adequate citizen security. Therefore, he promises to:
– Reduce unemployment by 5%: that means creating 350 thousand new jobs. How will he do it?, the president speaks of stimulating the national production by supporting small and medium sized enterprises as well as attracting new investments.
– Create six new clusters on biofuels, solar energy, data center and exports of medical services: This is linked to the goal of new jobs, but it also strengthens areas of economic growth in a competitive way.
– Seek to remove 60 thousand families from poverty: with a public-private strategy with associations and non-governmental organizations.
– Implement a Marshall-style plan: this implies an investment of $8 billion, with resources from pension funds and cooperative consortiums to carry out works involving ICE and other public entities.
– Create employment opportunities for people at risk: the idea is to minimize vulnerability of falling into a life of crime, and support the sophistication of police forces, aswell as new legislation such as the Law of Extinction of Dominion in the fight against drug trafficking, and Corporate Tax.
– Promote the export of medical services: the liberationist seeks to establish three shifts of attention in the Costa Rican Social Security Fund, not only to direct this proposal but also to help reduce waiting lists.
