Firefighters took care of gas leak in Alajuela

On Wednesday afternoon there was an emergency due to a leak of ethylene oxide gas -which is used for equipment sterilization- in a company located in Coyol Free Zone, Building B-37, in Alajuela. As a preventive measure, the company’s personnel was evacuated.

According to the Fire Department, the incident occurred in an air-conditioned room of 400 square meters, with 10 machines for the process of sterilization of medical catheters.

One of the machines had a leak of ethylene oxide gas.

The Fire Department added that during the day the warning of gas leakage in the environment was activated several times.

Three units from Alajuela, Estación and Barrio Mexico dealt with the emergency.
