Former president Laura Chinchilla Miranda was appointed as head of the observation mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the general elections in Paraguay, to be held on April 22nd.
Chinchilla, who governed from 2010 until 2014, was appointed to that task by the OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, as reported on Thursday through his official Twitter account.
The Paraguayan people will elect the President and Vice President of the Republic, 45 senators and 30 alternates, 18 parliamentarians and 18 substitutes for MERCOSUR, 80 legislators and 80 alternates, 17 governors and 17 departmental boards.
Almagro also appointed former Colombian President Andrés Pastrana as chief of observation mission for the presidential and legislative elections in Costa Rica, which will be held on February 4th. He also appointed Uruguayan Juan P. Corlazzoli as head of mission for the legislative and municipal elections of El Salvador, to be held on March 4th.
