French man brought nearly 68 thousand euros of drug money and will spend 10 years in prison

The Criminal Court of Alajuela sentenced a Frenchman to 10 years in prison for the crime of money laundering. The Public Prosecutor’s investigation determined that the money was a result of drug trafficking.

The man named Michell Lalanne, 50, was arrested on September 15th at the Juan Santamaría International Airport. He entered the country on a flight that came from Spain with € 67,260 in cash (more than 40 million colones).

Lalanne will remain in preventive custody until the sentence is final.
