The Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER) reported that Fruta Sana, a company located in La Alegría de Siquirres, in Limón, will export dried pineapple to Italy and Israel.
The company plans to start the exportation this month, once they have all the permits.
Fruta Sana settled in November 2016 as a free zone and provides employment to about 30 people, in a community affected by the lack of job opportunities.
The company belongs to Italian and Israeli investors, who will take dried pineapple to their countries in 2 presentations: in pieces and slices. The goal is to increase shipments and to be exporting 2 containers by the end of the year, as explained by Damaris Fallas, Fruta Sana General Manager.
The pineapple is bought from producers in San Carlos, Upala, and the Caribbean region. When the fruit enters the plant, it is cleaned, cut, sliced, dried and then stored in a cold room. Additives are not used, it is 100% natural.
The company has a modern, 1,850-square-meter production plant, which uses the latest technology.
The company future plan is to create its own brand to reach other exporting markets.
