On Tuesday morning, the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) arrested four people suspected of being part of a gang that robs bank customers. They are linked with 17 cases and an economic loss for a total of 22 million colones.
-In Curridabat the OIJ arrested a 42-year-old man, who apparently was one of the leaders of the gang and served as a marker for customers inside the banks.
-Another 18-year-old man was arrested in Torremolinos, Desamparados, who apparently intercepted the victims on a motorcycle to take their money.
-On the street in San José, a 28-year-old man was arrested and his house was searched in Barrio México. The man was allegedly in charge of following clients.
-Finally, the house of another 28-year-old man, who was already arrested for other crimes, was raided in Alajuela, but in the investigation it was determined that he had also participated in these cases.
The group divided to watch inside the banking facilities and warn those who were outside when the victim left, to follow up and in a solitary zone intercepted them to strip them of money.
In one case, the victim attempted to defend himself and was shot in the leg.
