Gas and ash from three volcanoes

Turrialba volcano in Cartago, Poás Volcano in Alajuela and Rincón de la Vieja Volcano in Guanacaste maintain the expulsion of gases and, to a lesser extent, ash.

According to the latest report of the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) both Turrialba and Poás continue with permanent degassing, while in Rincón de la Vieja the activity is sporadic.

The ejected material does not exceed 500 meters and is composed of gases mostly. Little ash output has been recorded, according to the same report.

At about 10:36 a.m. this Monday, October 9th, there was an eruption from Turrialba, at the time of the report the wind at the top of this volcano was heading west.

Minutes later, at 10:46 a.m., there was activity in Rincón de la Vieja.
