Government asked Maduro’s diplomats to leave the country

The Costa Rican government announced it asked three diplomats from Nicolás Maduro’s regime in Venezuela to leave the country. This was announced on Thursday morning by the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado.

Alvarado did not specify the term his government gave to the councilor Nabil Mora, to the second secretary; Angélica María Ramírez, and Nelly Gliset de la Mata Ovares. Alvarado said the Foreign Ministry will announce the deadline granted to these people to leave the national soil soon.

The decision was made after Alvarado received the ambassador appointed by the interim president of Venezuela Juan Guaidó, diplomat Maria Faría, in the Presidential House.

We received the ambassador sent by the interim president, Guaidó. She is the person recognized by the Costa Rican government, that is, no other representative has an official recognition from Costa Rica. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs set a period for the delegations to end their affairs and leave the country, following the standards from other countries such as Paraguay, Ecuador and others. The delegation that is recognized is the one we received yesterday at the Presidential Palace,”

said Alvarado on Thursday morning.

In addition to this announcement, President Alvarado made it clear the Costa Rican government will not support any military action in Venezuela
