The six-week closure of the bridge over Virilla River will start on Saturday, so on Monday, many public employees will telework and thereby cooperate to decrease traffic in some roads.
The Ministry of Labor highlighted that they do not know how many people will benefit from this alternative, but they do make a call to heads of institutions to promote telecommuting.
However, the lack of culture to implement such alternative is a reason for concern. The main challenge is to change the mindset of office-based only work, to create a win-win situation.
According to the Ministry of Labor, there are currently about 10 thousand public employees included in the telework program and other 4,000 who benefited from the staggered hours. It is expected that this number will increase next week.
On the private sector, Minister Carlos Alvarado made the call to UCCAEP and other entities for companies to also apply this alternative to avoid increasing traffic chaos.
