Security Minister Michael Soto said that the Public Force intervened access to the ports of Limón to allow the entry and exit of containers with goods.
Soto said that in the police troops will remain in place to prevent access to ports being blocked by the protesters. The leader even called on the exporters to send their goods to be served in the docks of JAPDEVA.
In recent days, exporters have said that, on average, they are losing $ 9.38 million in exports they cannot send to other countries.
The president of the Chamber of Exporters, Laura Bonilla, asked the Executive not to neglect the area. She explained that the ports of Moín were only working six hours a day last week, which represents a reduction of 11,846 tons of goods without embarking.
The exporters also ask for a greater police presence on Route 32, which connects San José with Limón.
We urgently request the authorities to guarantee security and ease of exports, and avoid further losses for our sector, which has been seriously affected by the crisis in Nicaragua. We urge the authorities to seek greater competitiveness and not minimize these significant effects on our performance,”
said Bonilla.
