Government promotes small hotels

A new booking center aims to make access to information for tourists easier through the website www.pequeñoshoteles.com, where they can find small hotels and book though Internet. This was announced yesterday by vice the president of the Republic, Ana Helena Chacón.

The initiative was carried out with the coordination of the authorities from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), the Organization of American States and the Red Nacional de Pequeños Hoteles de Costa Rica.

This plan will benefit 416 Costa Rican small hotels that have 5 to 50 rooms. They offer personal attention, reasonable prices and quality service. This number is expected to increase.

Currently, the site focuses on 18 countries: Guatemala, Panama, The Bahamas, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Saint Kitts, Saint Vincent, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Ecuador and El Salvador. They expect more countries to join.

Chacón said

“there are more than 150 small hotels and this way people can know and feel Costa Rican essence. By doing this, the government is supporting an initiative aiming to sell (services) on a greater scale through the platform.”
