Government suggests increase of ¢ 2,430 for private sector

The National Council of Wages received the proposal of the Government sector presented by the Minister of Labor, Alfredo Hasbum Camacho.

The Government’s initiative is to increase the minimum wages of the private sector by 2.43%. This means ¢2,430 for each ¢100 thousand.

The proposal is the same as the one from the employers grouped in the Costa Rican Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Business Sector (Uccaep). The increase would apply from January 2018.

Minister Hasbum also asked the Council to postpone the salary fixation for another week so that the Central Bank can be consulted on the figure that must be recognized for productivity, since some doubts have arisen regarding the official figure.
