Government will talk with industries about plastic

The Government of the Republic will concentrate the talks with the industrial sector during the remainder of this and next week, after two bills related to plastic were removed from Congress, specifically the law to fight pollution by plastic and protect the environment and the law to solve the pollution by plastic waste.

This decision of the Executive Power narrowly brings down the vote for the reform of the Legislature on Wednesday, as the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC) criticized it, since one of the projects was proposed by the head of the faction, Erwen Masís.

The objective is to generate agreements so that the country can pass ambitious legislation in this field,”

said Carlos Alvarado, president of the Republic.

Masís denounced that the president withdrew the bills due to pressure from the sector; however, Alvarado denied it.
