Green alert due to cold front in Caribbean and North Zone

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) declared a green alert in the Caribbean and the Northern Zone due to the influence of the cold front number nine.

According to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), the cold front moves through the north of Central America, causing the atmospheric pressure to increase and favoring the winds of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour.

From this Wednesday, this conditions will be felt in Costa Rican territory. In addition, winds of moderate intensity are predicted with gusts that can reach between 70 and 90 kilometers per hour. This will also cause rainfall in the Northern Zone and the Caribbean, with high precipitation levels mainly in the mountainous parts. There will also be cloudiness and rain in the Central Valley.

In the Central and South Pacific, isolated rains are foreseen, while in Guanacaste the rains will be intermittent over the cordilleras and surrounding areas.

But that is not all. Temperatures are expected to reach between 18 and 26 degrees Celsius. Therefore, a green alert is declared in the following regions:

Caribbean: rain, strong winds and strong waves.
North Zone: rain and strong winds.
Sarapiqui: rain and strong winds.
North Pacific: strong winds and strong waves.
Central Valley: strong winds and low temperatures.
