Guanacaste and San José stand out among the top 25 destinations in Latin America to develop meetings and congress tourism, according to the global network of suppliers of this niche, known as Cvent.
In the most recent Cvent ranking published this month, Guanacaste occupies the 11th position and San José the 24th in the list of The Best 25 Meeting Destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2019.
This is the first time that San José enters the list. The ranking takes into account factors such as number of hotels, available rooms, connectivity and easy access, among others.
Significant efforts have been made to position Costa Rica as a solid destination in the tourism segment of meetings, congresses, events and incentives in recent years through joint work with the private sector. The recent opening of the Costa Rica Convention Center is complemented by more high-end venues in the case of San José. In Guanacaste, a significant tourism investment has also been made with hotels that have the ideal characteristics to host large events,”
said Rafael Quesada, Chief of Advertising for the Costa Rican Tourism Institute.
The meeting industry represents 22% of tourism worldwide and the participant is of high purchasing power and invests three to four times more than a traditional tourist.
