Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras are united against gangs and drug traffickers

Honduran leader Juan Orlando Hernández announced that the presidents of Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras will inaugurate a joint police force to fight gangs and traffickers on November 15th.

It will be composed by members of the police, armed forces, intelligence services, migration and customs.

The Honduran President stressed that the three countries have been affected for two decades by gangs and drug rings and now, they are also dealing with arm trafficking and human trafficking.

Honduras is reinforcing the fight by building maximum security prisons to avoid that gangs members could run their criminal groups from inside the facilities.

Hernández decided not to give details on the numbers of troops that the three countries will deploy in the border areas but he declared that they will be sufficient to impose order and the officials will count on the necessary logistics and communication equipment.
