Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are joining their forces against gangs

The Salvadoran government reported that Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador launched a joint force to fight organized crime, including gangs that are spreading terror in those countries and that operate through border areas.

The Salvadoran chancellor Hugo Martínez explained that thanks to this force, it was possible to apprehend dozens of gang members in Guatemala in mid-October, because El Salvador shared intelligence information on criminal groups.

Martínez also expressed that in addition to fighting gangs, the force formed by the police and the armies of the three nations is involved in the fight against drug trafficking, arms trafficking and other forms of organized crime.

With 17,422 homicides in 2015, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras are three of the most violent regions without war in the world.
