The head of the Credit and Collection area of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), named Retana Mora, was suspended from his postion for two months on June 5th.
This is stated in resolution signed by José Alberto Acuña, Director of the Administrative Finance Department, which belongs to the Pension Management.
According to the document, Retana Mora is accused of exercising labor and psychological harassment against a subaltern named Saballo Morales.
Saballo Morales file the complaint on March 13th and requested not having a hierarchical relation with Retana, since she fears for her job stability.
On March 20th, the Financial Directorate warned Retana “to refrain from approaching or communicating in any way with Saballo,” whom they transferred to the Collection Management Subarea as of March 21st.
On May 29th, the Union of National Employees of the Fund and Social Security (UNDECA), sent a letter to the Pension Management warning that “any situation that happens to the complainant in relation to her health shall be the full responsibility of the administrative authorities (of the CCSS).”
The National Insurance Institute also sent a report signed by psychologist Marcela Peirano, psychiatrist Rafael Milano and general practitioner Natalia Varela. The professionals indicate that after the assessment of the case, they recommended that Mrs. Saballo Morales does not depend of the current leadership for the exercise of her duties, since it is a factor of risk and vulnerability to her health.
Both Retana and Seballo Morales decided to refrain from commenting on the case.
