The water that passes through 37 hydrants from the Public Services Company of Heredia (ESPH) is now monitored by means of a modern system. The procedure consists of a series of sensors that are installed in the base of the fire hydrants and that are responsible for sending the information to a control center through radio waves.
The hydrant monitoring system provides information regarding pressures in each of the fire hydrants. This information becomes visible through software that constantly monitors the data,”

The project not only allows to monitor the flow of the system instantly, but in case of an emergency it would facilitate the work of firefighters. The system is part of a series of technological advances implemented by the ESPH to improve the fire hydrant system that has a coverage of more than 90%.
The zones where the project was implemented are San Isidro, San Rafael and the center of Heredia. Currently, the ESPH has a project to install 100 fire hydrants per year in order to maintain better coverage in the areas where it provides services to, as established by the Hydrants Law 8641.
