On November 17th, San Vicente de Paul Hospital, in the province of Heredia, will open a breastfeeding room, where mothers can nurse their babies or make the extraction of milk safely and in optimum conditions.

The service will be open 24 hours a day and will be supervised by physicians and nurses from the Breastfeeding Clinic of the health facility.

It can be used both by hospital employees and by mothers who have their babies in the Neonatal service. It will have 10 chairs, 2 beds for mothers living in remote areas and 10 milk extractors.

The opening of the room will take place within the framework of the celebration of the International Day of Premature Babies (born before the 37th week of gestation).

For the closing of the celebration, both mothers and babies will enjoy a yoga class and the pediatric and nursing service will perform a children’s massage workshop.

In addition, the School of Integral attention of successful children of San Rafael de Heredia is going to offer a concert performed by children who were born prematurely.

The guests of honor will be the premature children who have been born in that medical center in the last two years to date.
